Inaugural Season Begins

Throggs Neck, NY – In the opener of their inaugural season, the Privateer women’s soccer team came up short against the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent Wednesday night. The Dolphins were the first to hit the scoreboard after a shot by junior Kaitlin Whalley (West Babylon, NY/SJ Baptist) just sneaked past senior goalkeeper Kim DiGiulio (Massapequa, NY/Amittyville Memorial) (Massapequa, NY/Amityville). The Privateers closed to within one goal after the junior Danielle Centeno (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) scored the first ever goal in school history at 6:56 total time.
 
The Dolphins were led by freshman forward Jessica McBain (Troy, NY/Troy) who had the first three goals of her career. McBain was followed by sophomore defender Cynthia Osorio (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) who finished the day with two goals including the game winner. Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY/Oceanside) had one save and one goal against while DiGiulio had 20 saves and nine goals against.
 
The Privateers will be back in action on Tuesday September 20th when they host the Bloodhounds of John Jay College at 4pm.
